Key information:
The first record of golf played on this links land dates to 1527. In 1842, a 10-hole course was designed by Alan Robertson followed by an 18-hole course by Old Tom Morris in 1857. James Braid extended the layout in 1926 which is essentially the links found today.

Regarded widely as a ‘bucket list’ golfing experience, Carnoustie is just 3/4hr drive from St Andrews and complements the other top flight courses in the area such as the Old Course, Kingsbarns and Dumbarnie perfectly.
With the Barry Burn easing its way through the final 3 holes, quietly awaiting the shot that is slightly less than perfect, Carnoustie Championship course is rightly regarded as having the hardest finishing stretch of all Open Championship courses.
Steeped in golfing history, the town of Carnoustie provided many of the game’s earliest international ambassadors, known as ‘The Carnoustie 300′. At the start of the 20th century around 300 of Carnoustie’s sons emigrated to Australia, South Africa and Canada but mainly to the USA to develop Scotland’s historic game into a truly worldwide sport.
