St Andrews Links, Jubilee Course
– Qualifying course for the 2004 Amateur Championship
– Scottish Amateur Strokeplay Championship
– British Mid-Amateur Championship
The Jubilee opened in 1897 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee, and is set on a sliver of land between the New Course and the sea. In 1988 the re-design of the Jubilee to Championship standard was carried out by Donald Steel.
It has all the exacting and dramatic characteristics of the other St Andrews links, going out alongside the Eden Estuary to the left and back with the first view of the town from the tenth tee. Elevated tees allow perfect vision of the gorse, pot bunkers and some narrow landing targets.
A 6742 yard, par 72 challenge many consider to be the toughest test of golf at St Andrews.
